# FAQ

#### **1) Is Wi-Fi HaLow a legal connection? Reading the website, I understand that HaLoWave is a worldwide DePIN and aims to offer a global connection, but in which countries exactly is it available?**

Yes **Wi-Fi HaLow** (IEEE 802.11ah) is a legal connection and is **certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance**, it's validated like other Wi-Fi connections. And yes, HaLoWave is a worldwide DePIN.

Specifically **HaLoWave is available in these countries and frequencies**:

**863-868 MHz (Europe & Africa) — 39 countries**: AL - Albania, AT - Austria, BA - Bosnia and Herzegovina, BE - Belgium, BG - Bulgaria, CH - Switzerland, CY - Cyprus, CZ - Czech Republic, DE - Germany, DK - Denmark, EE - Estonia, ES - Spain, FI - Finland, LI - Liechtenstein, FR - France, GB - United Kingdom, GR - Greece, HR - Croatia, HU - Hungary, IE - Ireland, IS - Iceland, IT - Italy, KE - Kenya, LT - Lithuania, LU - Luxembourg, LV - Latvia, MD - Moldova, MK - North Macedonia, MT - Malta, NL - Netherlands, NO - Norway, PL - Poland, PT - Portugal, RO - Romania, SE - Sweden, SI - Slovenia, SK - Slovakia, TR - Turkey, UG - Uganda

**865-867 MHz (narrower band) — 1 country**: IN - India

#### **2) To extend coverage as much as possible (and thus try to get more rewards), I read that it's recommended to install an outdoor antenna with a higher dBi. Does this mean I need to buy a LoRaWAN antenna? And if I already have a LoRaWAN antenna because I come from Helium IoT, can I reuse it?**

Exactly! And if you already have a **LoRaWAN antenna** (from a project like Helium IoT or others), you can use it for **HaLoWave**! The antenna that comes with both the HaLoWave Miner and the Wi-Fi Router also works over long distances, but for better performance, it's better to use an antenna with a higher dBi installed externally. Inside the package, you'll find two adapters compatible with most LoRaWAN cables/antennas, as well as a gigabit PoE splitter. **Very important**: Since Wi-Fi HaLow is a different protocol than LoRaWAN, don't use the same antenna for two or more different projects! For example, using a splitter. The antenna will conflict and won't work well, resulting in poor results (and few rewards) for HaLoWave. **Use the antenna only for a specific project.**

#### **3) I want to join the HaLoWave Network and earn rewards ($HLW tokens). Which device should I buy? Do I need to buy both the HaLoWave Miner and the HaLoWave Wi-Fi Router, or what is the difference?**

The **HaLoWave Miner** is the Access Point and serves to create the HaLoWave Network. It’s the device through which the user obtains rewards in **$HLW tokens**. So, to earn $HLW tokens, you **need the HaLoWave Miner**.

The **HaLoWave Wi-Fi Router**, instead, is the Client STA. This means the device takes the HaLow signal generated by the HaLoWave Miner from a distance and converts it into a classic 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and LAN connection to connect normal devices. The Client STA is not a miner and therefore doesn't earn rewards, but it allows you to connect these regular devices if you need it for your home or business.

Even though buying the HaLoWave Wi-Fi Router is not mandatory to earn rewards, it is important to remember that to get higher rewards, the HaLoWave Miner can **beacon** with other HaLoWave Miners around it, or perform **data transfers** to provide connectivity to HaLoWave Wi-Fi Routers or HaLow IoT sensors/devices that will connect to the HaLoWave Network. However, even just **1 HaLoWave Miner** can earn rewards even if it’s in an isolated position without any other miners around, HaLoWave Wi-Fi Routers, or HaLow IoT sensors/devices. For more information, please check the Tokenomics (<https://halowave.io/tokenomics>)

#### **4) How many HaLoWave Miners can be installed inside a hex to get the maximum possible rewards? And is there a mandatory distance to respect for the installation of HaLoWave Miners?**

Inside a hex of the HaLoWave Network, only **3 HaLoWave Miners** can obtain the highest possible rewards. These first 3 installed HaLoWave Miners that also have an uptime ≥ 95% for two months can obtain the **Seniority Status**, which is a protection if other devices are installed within the hex. If other devices are installed in the hex, the rewards for those devices are lower. For more information, please check the Tokenomics.

Regarding distance, there is **no mandatory distance** to respect. The only rule is the **hex rule**, where a maximum of 3 HaLoWave Miners can get the maximum rewards and the Seniority Status protection. From the 4th HaLoWave Miner onwards, the rewards are lower. For more information, please check the Tokenomics equation.

#### **5) To enter the project and earn $HLW tokens, do I necessarily have to buy a HaLoWave Miner? Is there the possibility to join the project with a DIY or BYOD setup?**

DIY or BYOD is in our roadmap but it’s something we cannot guarantee. For the **sake of monetization and network growth**, the most important thing we must strictly respect is the **duty cycle obligation** in countries like the European Union and others, where regulations are very restrictive and severe if this duty cycle obligation is not respected. For this reason, the HaLoWave devices are closed hardware that allows us to overcome these duty cycle problems and offer constant connectivity in all countries. Therefore, if you want to join right now and accumulate as many rewards as possible, it’s **only possible with the official HaLoWave Miner**.

You can purchase the HaLoWave devices in our shop or in our official resellers.

#### **6) By using the HaLoWave Miner, I act as an access point and generate the HaLoWave Network using my internet connection. What happens if someone connects to the HaLoWave Network through my HaLoWave Miner (for example, using a HaLoWave Wi-Fi Router) and uses it to download illegal content or do illegal actions that could damage my internet connection? How does the HaLoWave Network protect me?**

Even though the risk is truly negligible because we are in an expansion phase, we can absolutely reassure you. We are establishing the HaLoWave company in the United States, and by operating under US jurisdiction, we utilize the **WBA OpenRoaming** framework alongside crucial legal protections such as the **Safe Harbor laws** (under the DMCA) and **Section 230** of the Communications Decency Act. This means that the network generated by your HaLoWave Miner is legally treated simply as a pass-through ISP node. The owner of the HaLoWave Miner has **absolutely no legal responsibility** if someone else uses the provided internet connection to download illegal content or perform malicious actions. The owner of the HaLoWave Miner is completely excluded from any legal liability and is fully shielded by these internet service provider laws.

#### **7) What coverage or distance can the HaLoWave devices reach?**

Based on our tests on the ground, the connection between HaLoWave devices can easily reach **5-6 kilometers**. However, for a device located in the air (such as a drone), the HaLoWave Miner can offer connectivity for **over 10 kilometers**. However the potential is vast and more is possible to achieve, we look forward to discovering it alongside our community!

#### **8) What is the maximum internet speed (Mbps) that HaLoWave can offer?**

We use the **latest Morse Micro chip**, which offers the greatest advantages. We can reach speeds of **up to 43 Mbps** in countries without the duty cycle obligation. In countries with the duty cycle obligation, the maximum speed that can be achieved is up to approximately **8 Mbps**.

#### **9) What is the duty cycle obligation, and which countries have it?**

The duty cycle is a bureaucratic limit imposed by many countries regarding the maximum percentage of time a device is allowed to transmit within a given period in the sub-GHz frequency range. However, our advanced Morse Micro chip allows us to seamlessly operate and provide excellent speeds even in these countries, revolutionizing internet connections.

List of all **Countries with duty cycle obligation**:

#### **10) What are the benefits of joining HaLoWave now? And when will the TGE happen?**

HaLoWave is the first Global Wi-Fi HaLow Network, proudly built on **Solana**. We strongly believe in the rapid expansion of the Wi-Fi HaLow market in the coming years (global forecasts estimate the market to reach a **$1.5 Billion valuation** with a massive 37-38% CAGR). Our Tokenomics is designed to heavily reward our builders: **60% of the total supply** is allocated exclusively to the community, and **70% of network revenue** (post-TGE) will be used to **Buy-Back & Burn** $HLW tokens on the open market. Joining right now during our **Beta phase** gives you a massive early-adopter advantage. By securing your position and generating uptime early, you can accumulate the highest possible amount of rewards before the network becomes crowded. Regarding the **TGE (Token Generation Event)**, we expect to achieve strong network monetization in **2027**.
