# What is HaLoWave?

**HaLoWave is the world’s first global Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) built exclusively on the Wi-Fi HaLow (IEEE 802.11ah) standard.**

Co-founded by Osvaldo Ruscitti and Lee Walker, HaLoWave represents a massive leap forward for Web3 connectivity. Built natively on the Solana blockchain and actively scaling through leading programs like the Colosseum hackathon and the Alliance accelerator, HaLoWave is laying the foundational tracks for the future of global connectivity.

Industry forecasts project that **over 100 million IoT devices** will be connected via Wi-Fi HaLow in the coming years. HaLoWave is positioning itself ahead of traditional Web2 infrastructures by building the first global, decentralized Web3 network ready to absorb this massive influx of next-generation hardware.

### Eliminating the IoT Compromise

For years, the Internet of Things (IoT) has been forced to compromise. Technologies like LoRaWAN provided incredible long-range connectivity, but with data rates so low they could only handle simple pings. Traditional Wi-Fi provided massive bandwidth, but failed to penetrate walls or reach long distances without expensive repeaters.

**HaLoWave eliminates the compromise.** By leveraging the sub-1 GHz spectrum and utilizing cutting-edge Morse Micro chips, we are deploying a decentralized network that delivers the reach and penetration of sub-GHz frequencies alongside the power, security, and high data throughput of standard Wi-Fi.

### Why HaLoWave?

* **Faster:** Up to 43 Mbps data throughput, easily supporting video streaming and edge AI, replacing outdated kbps limits.
* **Smarter:** Sub-second responsiveness and IP-native architecture for real-time control and immediate cloud integration.
* **Stronger:** Deep wall penetration, massive scale (supporting thousands of devices per access point), and WPA3 enterprise security.
* **Decentralized:** A people-powered network where infrastructure providers are fairly rewarded in $HLW tokens for the coverage and data transfer they facilitate.
